essential oils
The use of essential oils has been known ever since the very past. Medicines, balsams, afrodisiacs, primary cosmetics were prepared from these and later on perfumes as well. In order to retain their power and effects keep them in cold place and well closed in small dark bottles.
Before you use any essential oil for your bath or massage you should dilute it with a basic oil (almond oil, sunflower oil or grape-stone oil). If the oils chosen don’t help to improve your health state, consult with your attending physician.
Standard oil mixture – 30 drops of essential oil in 20 tea spoons of basic oil.
Bath mixture for young, elderly and ill people – 16 drops of essential oil in 20 tea spoons of basic oil.
Bath mixture for babies until their second year - 8 drops of essential oil in 20 tea spoons of basic oil.
Massage oil - 8 to 12 drops of essential oil in 6 to 8 tea spoons of basic oil.
Inhalation – 1 to 2 drops of oil into a bowl with hot water, inhale the vapour for approx. 5 minutes, repeat 2 to 3 times a week.
Bath – 10 tea spoons of basic oil with essential oil. Mix the water well so that the oil would disperse. Close the door and bathroom windows and stay in the bath for about 10 minutes.
Be careful
Even though the essential oils may help with skin problems and after they were absorbed they can favourably effect the whole body, some of them may cause allergic reactions starting from hives to asthma attack.
During pregnancies it is inevitable to avoid some essential oils. If you are having doubts, consult with your attending physician or therapist.
During the first 20 days of pregnancy do not use these oils – sweet basil, cedar, cypress, cajeput, myrrh, niaouli, rosemary and salvia.
During the whole pregnancy do not use these oils – angelica, anise, blueberry, lemon, tarragon, fennel, camphor, clove, oregano, caraway, oil from red mint, parsley, calamint, cinnamon, thyme, hyssop and nutmeg apple.
